Before a permit can be issued, an application must be submitted to our office for approval, and the required fees must be paid. Visit the Permit Application Forms page for a list of our application forms for you to print. Applications are also available in our office. Most building permits require a plan review in order to be approved. Permits that require a plan review must have an application fee paid at the time the application is submitted. The remainder of the permit fee is not due until the permit is ready to be issued.
Submit a Permit Application
Building permit applications can be submitted by the property owner or anyone they authorize. Fire Alarm and Sprinkler drawings must be completed by individuals certified in the state of Ohio to design those systems.
All trade permit applications (Electric, HVAC, Gas, Plumbing, Hydronics/Wet Heat or Sewer) must be submitted by individuals who possess a current registration in the City of Hamilton to do that work, unless certain conditions are met. For more details on trade permit applications, visit the Contractor Registration page.
Sign permit applications can be submitted by the property owner or anyone they authorize; however, it is highly recommended that the services of a professional Sign Erector be obtained to design the sign, obtain the permit and install the sign.
