Wildlife and waterfowl in Hamilton? You bet. Not to mention challenging golf courses, an airfield devoted to radio-controlled planes, the oldest and largest motocross (BMX) track in the State and all the scenic and sports-related advantages of life along a riverfront.

With more than 150 acres of nature beauty, hikers and nature-lovers can discover peaceful hiking and miles of paved pathways on the scenic banks of the Great Miami River for walking, biking or in-line skating. Hamilton’s Parks and Recreation Department maintains nearly 1,400 acres of land.

Need space for meeting, wedding reception or picnic? Hamilton’s 40 recreational facilities include 25 neighborhoods parks. With four major picnic areas, each park is equipped with picnic tables, shelters, grills, restrooms, playground equipment and parking facilities. You may also want to consider the beautifully restored Michael J. Colligan Lodge for organizational meetings and social events or the lower level of the Crawford Home to host small organizational meetings, family gatherings and small parties.

Hamilton Parks and Recreation Department's mission is to enhance the quality of life of our community by providing diverse recreational facilities, programs and services and preserving and developing our natural resources.

Search for City of Hamilton “Official” Holiday Trees

For the past 20 or so years, the City of Hamilton has had a wonderful Downtown Holiday Light Program. This extraordinary display of over 100,000 lights has become a source of community pride, and has attracted many visitors to the city during the holiday season which will officially begin on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 5:30 PM.

The Holiday Committee is asking for assistance from the community in finding the trees to be donated. Needed is one 25' - 30', symmetrical spruce or pine tree which will be cut down and removed from the property (tree must be located in an area that is easily accessible for removal) by the committee. Also needed is one 12' - 15' tree which will be placed in front of the Monument.

If anyone in the community has a tree that they would like to donate to help continue the tradition of beauty in downtown Hamilton, please call the Hamilton Parks and Recreation Department by Friday, October 5, 2007, at 785-7060 and leave your name, address, phone number and location of the tree you wish to donate.
