The Human Relations Department is responsible for
assisting citizens of Hamilton in acquiring equal opportunity in
employment, housing, education and public accommodations.
Types of services provided by the department are:
- Investigate discrimination complaints and serve as conciliatory agent in
the settling of complaints.
- Special assistance to those needing emergency help from other agencies.
- Landlord/tenant assistance for complaints of either party.
- Referral information for the unemployed.
- Disseminate information on civil and human rights material.
- Serve as the Fair Housing Agent for the City of Hamilton.
Any citizen of Hamilton can volunteer to serve on any committee to lend
his/her expertise in special community projects. The
work of the Department is directed
towards improving inter-group relations and
achieving equal opportunity in employment, housing, education, and public
accommodations for the citizens of Hamilton.
