Guidelines for Deck Installation

A building permit is required for all decks being installed or constructed. The deck package includes details with regard to the requirements for footing, deck designs, and stairs. The deck package also includes a site plan which demonstrates the exact location of the deck in relation to the house and property lines in order to ensure the deck complies with the setback requirements for the property.

(Exterior alterations of any kind in designated Historic Districts require approval from the Historic Design Review Board.)

The setback requirements are tabled below:
