Non-Sewered Water Services

The Homeowner/Resident must apply for a Non-Sewered Water Service by filling out an Application For Utility Service form.  A Plumbing permit to install a non-sewered water service installation must be obtained from Construction Services. All non-sewered water services must have a backflow preventer.  The backflow preventer must be installed immediately after the non-sewered water meter as per the sample drawing.

  • A drawing of a typical non-sewered water service installation is available from Construction Services.  If an installation differs from the typical drawing, a schematic of the proposed installation must be furnished.
  • Notify Construction Services (785-7360) when the installation is ready for inspection, and the Water Distribution Division (868-5902) when ready for non-sewered water meter installation.
  • Residences with an in-ground sprinkling system must install a reduced pressure type backflow preventer.
  • Residences with normal outside hose connections must install a backflow preventer, (i.e.:  Watts no. 7 Dual Check Valve or equal) and hose connection vacuum breakers on all hose bibs connected to the Non-Sewered Water System.
  • No winter read-outs will be made on non-sewered water services.  Minimum monthly billing charges will apply.
    • No faucets, hoses or other devices for water use are permitted inside the house on the non-sewered water service.
    • No cross-connection, either permanent or temporary is permitted between the sewered and non-sewered water services.
