CORRECTIONS OFFICER
General Description of Duties: This is responsible administrative, clerical, and supervisory work involving the operations of the Hamilton Police Department temporary detention facility and Main Desk and the Hamilton Municipal Court holding facility and court security function.

Employees in this class work directly and closely with police officers, supervisory police personnel, persons in custody, and the general public on a regular and recurring basis. Supervision is exercised over persons in custody.
Special Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or Ohio Equivalency Certificate, supplemented by additional training in the booking and control of prisoners and the preparation and maintenance of related records;
2. Considerable law enforcement experience at the level of Police Officer (uniformed patrol is preferred), including the use of computers and related customized law enforcement software; or
3. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the work;
4. Possess police officer certification from the Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Commission;

CORRECTIONS OFFICER SUPERVISOR
General Description of Duties: This is work specializing in the supervision of corrections officers including, but not limited to, the management of security operations at the Hamilton Municipal Court and the offices and building at One Renaissance Center.

The Corrections Supervisor is given specific work instructions by the Chief of Police, or designee, on new assignments or responsibilities, but works with considerable independence in performing regularly assigned duties.
Special Qualifications:
The necessary special qualifications for the classification of Corrections Supervisor are the same as for the classification of Corrections Manager;

CORRECTIONS OFFICER MANAGER
General Description of Duties: This is work specializing in the management of corrections officers including, but not limited to, the management of security operations at the Hamilton Municipal Court and the offices and building at One Renaissance Center. The Corrections Manager maintains a close working relationship with the Services Division Commander or other designated supervisor of the Hamilton Police Department to ensure efficiency of operations.

Special Qualifications:
1. Minimum age of 21;
2. United States citizen;
3. Current peace officer certification with the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission or, if removed from peace officer service for one to four years, complete a refresher training course prescribed by the Executive Director of the Peace Officer Training Commission within one year from the date of re-entry into peace officer status;
4. Preferred minimum of four years police management/supervisory experience;

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR
General Description of Duties: This is responsible work in the operation of public safety communications. Employees receive radio and telephone calls from citizens, Hamilton Police and Fire units, outside law enforcement agencies, and other city departments;
Desired Special Qualifications:
Some experience in the operation of communications equipment to include radio transmitters;

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
General Description of Duties: Performs highly responsible and difficult administrative and public safety work involving the planning, supervision, coordination and efficient operation of the City’s Police and Fire Communications Center.

The nature of the work performed involves supervision of the accurate and timely transmission of emergency messages that frequently include emergency situations affecting human welfare and personal safety, including life and death situations.
Special Qualifications:
1. Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification issued by the City’s fire department;
2. Considerable emergency communications and dispatching experience at the level of a Public Safety Communications Supervisor;
3. Possession of a valid LEADS/NCIC certification and a valid BCI&I Criminal History certification;
4. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work;

POLICE RECORDS CLERK
General Description of Duties: Performs responsible clerical and technical work in coding, reporting, filing and researching police records, and performs related work as required.
Desired Special Qualifications: Some experience in general clerical work;

ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST
General Description of Duties: Performs moderately complex professional work in an area of technical specialization or administration responsible for project or on-going analytical problem solving.
Primary duties include:
1. Policy development;
2. Accreditation management;
3. Grants management; and
4. Budget development;
Special Qualifications:
1. Graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with a Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate area of specialty;
2. Some responsible professional experience in the area of specialty; or
3. Any equivalent combination of education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
