The Hamilton Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics team is composed of a total of twenty-five officers consisting of a Lieutenant/Commander, two supervisor/team leaders, 15 operators/counter snipers, four crisis negotiators, and three Hamilton Fire Department Paramedics. Its purpose is to provide heavy tactical support in emergency situations, and is also responsible for dynamic entry in narcotics interdiction operations.

This highly specialized team is able to safely return a hostage, apprehend multiple criminals
simultaneously, and secure the location of dangerous and substantial drug ring organizers.

HPD SWAT

Training is one of the most important aspects of the team. Regularly scheduled monthly training is mandatory. Officers also receive two weeks of specialized training, instructed by leading experts in the tactical community each year.
