Traffic PatrolThe Traffic Division's main responsibility is the investigation of traffic crashes and the successful prosecution of those found to have violated traffic laws. Officers are trained in all facets of traffic investigation from basic crash investigation to crash reconstruction.

The Traffic Division is comprised of one lieutenant, and
includes four Community-Oriented Policing officers
(COPS). There are 13 officers assigned as traffic officers.
Three traffic officers are assigned to each rotating patrol shift.

Traffic DivisionThe Hamilton Police Department once again received a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Governor's Highway Safety Office to reduce the number of speed related injury accidents. The number of speed related
injury accidents decreased by 53% on State Route 4 (Erie/Dixie Highway), however the speed-related injury accidents increased 40% on High Street/Main Street due to construction. Seat belt usage increased to 60%.
