The Hamilton Police Department's Tactical Response Team (TRT) is a specialized field force unit which consists of forty-three team members. There are two lieutenants, one sergeant, five detectives, and thirty-five police officers. The TRT responds to situations involving civil disorder, crowd control, or other situations requiring special tactics, equipment, and training not normally available in routine patrol operations. ![]() The Tactical Response Team practices bi-annually in the spring and fall. This practice consists of line formations and team movements in dealing with moving large crowds. Additionally, the TRT prepares for providing security measures at demonstrations, protests and rallies of a controversial nature, as well as perimeter security for dignitaries visiting our city. The TRT has involved the Miami University students at our crowd control exercises. The students act as an unruly mob, challenging officers to disperse or arrest them. Their participation has assisted the team in learning how to react during such encounters. back to divisions/sections |
