The residential service “RS” electric rate is made up of three main
components at this time: the Customer Charge, the Energy Charge and the
various Rider Charges.
The Customer Service Charge is a meter usage charge on each metered
service. This charge covers the City’s overhead costs associated with
meter reading, customer services, billing, service calls and meter
maintenance.
The Energy Charge is the amount you pay for each kilowatt hour (kWh) that
you use. The rate is broken up into two blocks with the rate per kilowatt
hour declining with the higher block of consumption. The rate per kilowatt
hour is also different for summer and winter.
The Utility reviews the Power Cost Adjustment calculation and makes
projections for the periods beginning August and February. As of March 3,
2008, the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) applied to all energy usage (kWh)
is $0.0163. As of March 3, 2008, Rider D is 1.8% of the monthly electric
charges and Rider E is 0.5% of the monthly electric charges.
