An Award Winning Community

Social Media

The City of Hamilton strives to use innovative ways to provide transparency regarding governmental operations. We encourage all residents & businesses to sign-up or use one of the following social media tools we currently employ.

Twitter is a networking and micro-blogging service that enables users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 bytes in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Users can send and receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS (receive only), or through applications such as Tweetie, Twitterrific, Twitterfon, TweetDeck and Feedalizr. The service is free to use over the web, but using SMS may incur phone services provider fees.

Facebookis a free global social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc. Users can add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Additionally, users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region. The website's name stems from the colloquial name of books given at the start of the academic year by university administrations with the intention of helping students get to know each other better. If you would like to view our Facebook page, you must "become a fan" of the City of Hamilton. The City of Hamilton utilizes Facebook to provide timely updates and to allow "fans" of the City of Hamilton to view various reports and photos.
