2013 Auditor of State Award with Distinction Auditor of State A recent financial audit of the City of Hamilton, Ohio by Auditor of State Dave Yost's office has returned a clean audit report. The City of Hamilton's excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award with Distinction.
2013    Gold Award International Economic Development Council Coon Restoration/City of Hamilton Public-Private Partnership (Population 25,000 to 200,000)
2013 Silver Award International Economic Development Council Strategic Initiative Update (Population 25,000 to 200,000)
2012 Outstanding Achievement in Popular Financial Reporting GFOA The City of Hamilton has been awarded the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its 2011 PAFR.
The Popular Annual Financial Reporting Awards Program is specifically designed to encourage state and local governments to prepare and issue high quality popular annual financial reports.
2012    Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting GFOA The City of Hamilton has once again been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers ssociation of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of overnmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
2012 Tree City USA Arbor Day Foundation This is the 9th year Hamilton has earned the national designation. Hamilton achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program's four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. 
2012    CALEA Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies The Hamilton Police Department has been recognized for the seventh time by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. This accreditation came on March 24, 2012 and represents our agencies ongoing acceptance of the obligation to continue the quest for professional excellence. Major law enforcement associations, leading educational and training institutions, governmental agencies, as well as law enforcement executives internationally, acknowledge CALEA and its Accreditation programs as benchmarks for professional law enforcement agencies. The Law Enforcement Accreditation of the Hamilton Police Department is for three years.
2011 Tree City USA Arbor Day Foundation This will be the 8th consecutive year Hamilton has received the award.The nationally recognized Tree City USA award is presented annually to those communities that have met maintenance standards for trees growing along their streets and in their parks. The four standards are: 1) having a designated tree board, forestry professional or city department responsible for the care of trees in the community; 2) passing a tree care ordinance; 3) having an active forestry program in place with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita; and 4) proclaiming and hosting an Arbor Day celebration.
2010 Public Gas System Achievement American Public Gas Association This is one of the highest honors a public gas system can receive. Additionally, being selected for this Award from over 700 public gas systems nationally adds even greater significance to this achievement.
2010 Reliable Public Power Provider American Public Power Association This designation acknowledges the City of Hamilton, for providing its customers, the citizens of Hamilton, with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.
2010 Best Tap Water Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Hamilton was able to unseat its Canadian rivals as Gold Medal Winner for the Best Tap Water in the World at the 20th Annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting. The Berkeley Springs competition, the oldest and largest water tasting competition in the world, is aptly known as the Olympics of Water.
2010 “Best of the Best” Water Taste American Water Works Association (Ohio section) The City of Hamilton’s Water won the “Best of the Best” Water Taste Test, as the best tasting municipal water in the State of Ohio.
2010 US Census Partner Appreciation U.S. Census Bureau The City of Hamilton was presented a partner recognition plaque on September 14, 2010 from Dr. Robert Groves, Director of the U.S. Census Bureau for the facilitation of the process to achieve a complete and accurate census count in 2010. The Census Bureau thanked the community for their time and resources in helping to paint the new portrait of America. The City of Hamilton’s Mayor presented this plaque to the ‘You Count’ Committee and the Planning Department at the September 22, 2010 City Council meeting. These entities led the coordination effort for the City of Hamilton. Initial count figures will be released prior to the end of 2010, according to the Census.gov website.
