The Department of Civil Service and Personnel is responsible for administering and grading Civil Service examinations. It prepares eligibility lists used by the appointing authorities to make appointments.
The Department of Civil Service and Personnel coordinates the hiring process for new employees including, but not limited to, helping employees complete all requisite paperwork, enrolling them in insurance and informing them of their benefits.
It maintains employee personnel records and files. Such personnel records include, amongst other items, records of vacation, sick and floating holiday leave.
This department performs all support activities for the Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service and Personnel Director serves as the Secretary to the Civil Service Commission.
The Department of Civil Service and Personnel is also responsible for the Hamilton City School District coordination in matters of Civil Service, including, but not limited to, administering Civil Service examinations and preparing eligibility lists for many non-certificated positions within the school district.
