Environmental Health Division is responsible for inspecting a variety of environmental programs under the Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Agriculture and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. They conduct routine and complaint inspections for State of Ohio mandated programs:
In addition, the Environmental Division investigates complaints concerning refuse, tall weeds and grass, graffiti, junk and inoperable automobiles on private and nuisance properties, and much more. Annually the Environmental Division handles approximately 10,000 complaints. Once the complaint is investigated as valid, a Notice of Violation is sent and the owner of record is given a specific amount of time to correct it. The amount of time is specified in the ordinance and extensions may be granted when requested. The division facilitated the demolition of over 150 nuisance properties.
