Engineering Division
The Engineering Division:
The Engineering Division:
- Inspects the associated facilities within the right-of-way
- Issues permits for all activities within the right-of-way
- Manages the City's annual street resurfacing program
- Provides engineering design and construction administration for infrastructure projects such as streets, alleys, bridges, and storm sewer and drainage improvements
- Provides general civil engineering support to other City departments
- Provides plan review of all new subdivisions

- Maintain and operate the City's onsite fueling station
- Maintain and repair the City's fleet of automobiles, trucks, backhoes, mowers, and various other types of equipment
- Manage insurance claims
- Procure titles and licenses
- Purchase new equipment
- Respond to emergency calls related to the City's fleet
Refuse Division

The Refuse Division:
- Administers the contract of a private company for collection and disposal of refuse and recycling for approximately 21,500 residential customers, 112 commercial customers, and all street and park trash containers
- Leases a City-owned Transfer Station for disposal of large volumes of trash and debris

The Streets and Sewers Division is responsible for a broad range of maintenance and construction work in the City. This includes tasks for 235 miles of streets and 91 miles of alleys such as:

- Leaf pickup
- Maintenance
- Right-of-way mowing and beautification
- Snow and ice control

The Transportation and Traffic Division is responsible for:
- Conducting engineering studies and subsequent design of traffic related improvements including traffic signals, traffic signs, and street closures
- Enforcing parking laws and issuing any related tickets for non-compliance
- Installing and maintaining traffic signals, airport beacons, weather warning sirens, and other miscellaneous electrical work throughout the City
- Installing, maintaining, and removing traffic signs and pavement markings
- Managing the City's parking meter system, City-owned surface parking lots, and McDulin Parking Garage
